apt-watch-gnome software package provides Applet that monitors apt sources for upgrades (GNOME applet), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install apt-watch-gnome
apt-watch-gnome is installed in your system.
Make ensure the apt-watch-gnome package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep apt-watch-gnome *
You will get with apt-watch-gnome package name, version, architecture and description in a table
